Los Angeles — September 14, 2005 — Captaris, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAPA), a leading provider of Business Information Delivery solutions that specialize in automating paper and other unstructured document processes, announced plans to integrate Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF). The announcement was made at the Microsoft Professional Developer Conference and will affect future releases of Captaris software products.

Captaris builds on Microsoft Windows technologies to create high-value Business Information Delivery applications, especially where paper, faxes, images, forms, PDF files, and other unstructured documents are involved. Captaris Workflow (previously named Teamplate) was the first pure .NET workflow application to market and the first to achieve Microsoft’s Premium Level .NET Connected certification. Captaris Workflow is integrated with Microsoft .NET, Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Microsoft Content Management Server, Microsoft Office InfoPath and other Microsoft products at customers such as the South Carolina Department of Transportation, AstraZeneca, Qatar Bank, and the Polish Ministry of Economy and Labor.

"By integrating core WWF technology within our products, we can focus on solving the practical business problem of managing unstructured documents for compliance and process improvement," said Jürgen Stephan, vice president of global marketing for Captaris. "Additionally customers who use Captaris Workflow today have the assurance their workflows will operate with the Microsoft platform in the future."

“We are delighted that Captaris is an early adopter of the Windows Workflow Foundation technology. Windows Workflow Foundation provides ISVs with a consistent infrastructure for workflow on the Windows platform and enables them to deliver innovative solutions with ever increasing business value and flexibility to their customers,” said Scott Woodgate, Group Product Manager, Connected Systems Division, Microsoft Corp.

With its proven expertise and experience in creating document-centric workflows and business process management solutions for Microsoft products, Captaris also offers a compelling integration strategy for companies interested in deploying WWF in the future but having immediate workflow needs today.
